We were the very first company in Europe to offer the Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh cell in this protected form. 
We also offer the Sanyo based 2600mAh battery and the Panasonic based 3100mAh battery, both of which benefit from Seiko's top of the range IC protection.

Currently, any companies which are advertising protected 18650 or 18700 Lithium-ion batteries, showing a higher capacity than our 3400mAh rated battery, are giving false information.

In addition to the added electronic protection referred to as IC or PCB (integrated circuitry or printed circuit board), these high quality cells have an in built mechanical protection against the build up of heat and pressure.  
This protection is to prevent the possibility in very extreme cases of explosion.  The latest advance in inbuilt thermal and pressure protection actually stops the chemical reaction by separating the electrodes inside the cell when the pressure reaches a predefined threshold. 
The vent disc then opens and releases the gas and excess pressure.
